Pick the stops your defense needs to make

Start with 4–3 Man if you want to limit yards and points. It leads both lists here. Before you commit, check whether your corners can handle the man assignments you want to call. The ranking can't cover for a bad matchup on the outside.

Need an extra possession? Look at 4–2–5 Man. It leads the takeaway rate, but it's close to 4–3 Man Pressure. Try both against your usual trouble plays and check what you give up when you chase a turnover.

Getting burned deep? Switch the chart to big gains allowed. The plain 4–3 playbook leads that list. A playbook that limits chunk plays might suit you better than one with a slightly higher win rate, especially if one busted coverage keeps deciding your games.

What about wins per season?

Winning matters. But a loaded roster and an easier schedule can make a playbook look better than it is. The win-rate filter shows how teams using each playbook did in the games included here. It doesn't promise the same record when you switch.

We leave out games we couldn't reliably match, so a full-season win total would be misleading. Use win rate as a second opinion, then check third-down stops and big gains allowed for a clearer idea of what happened on the field.

About these rankings

These are results from one CPU Dynasty over ten seasons, not a controlled test with equal rosters. Teams, opponents and coaches differ. We rank the actual playbook used in each game, with at least 100 team-games across five seasons to qualify. Some playbooks aren't represented enough to rank.

Only completed games with verified teams and scores are included. Incomplete games, uncertain FCS matches and an unidentified offensive playbook are left out. Rates combine their relevant attempts or opportunities, rather than averaging game percentages. Team scoring includes all points; big-play rates use recorded rushing and passing attempts, which don't always equal snaps.

This is a starting point for your own testing. Results can change with game updates, settings and the players on your roster.
